Recently, I celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday in advance and I took the opportunity to surprise him for a night’s (yeah 😦 limited moolah for more, you know?) stay at Avillion Port Dickson in one of their premium water chalets. He had thought of coming here before for a night or two based on the pretty advertorial pictures of the resort when we first started dating. It was such a relief that this coincidence turned out to be the perfect choice!
Located an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur, Avillion is pretty easy to find. Don’t be misled by the other Avillion resort though! There are two Avillions; Avillion Port Dickson and Avillion Cove Port Dickson. There are sister resorts and based on reviews and what I researched about on the internet, comparing the two seemed inimitable. It was obvious that the better resort was my choice.
The Adults Pool
It was quite a distance to walk to our water chalet and honestly, I love long walks so it’s okay for me. We got to see the mini petting zoo that they have on the way to our chalet and the adults pool is further up it. There were also hens, cocks, peacocks and their babies roaming freely around the resort and they were so beautiful to watch!
The Premium Water Chalet
10 minutes away from the lobby and reception area, we arrived at our paradise for the night.
Our premium water chalet!Being the OCD me, the sun bed had mini stains on it and the sun chairs outside had leftover sand from previous tenants. Other than that, the whole room and bathroom was pretty clean and there was no stench whatsoever.
The sun bed by the windows were enough for 2! With beautiful sunshine, candid shots and selfies were mandatory too!
I forgot to take pictures of how the whole bathroom looks like. Exquisite is the word – with a bath tub and open-air rain shower (pictured behind me), natural sun light shines in and if it rains, you might feel it by the rain shower 😛
Tea time & Evening Cocktails!
It was a rather unique experience, I must say. The interior of the bathroom was rustic, but minimalist and clean – with flat rocky tiles on the ground, bamboo blinds on each side of the shower and bath tub for privacy and plenty of shower accessories. The only thing I was unhappy about were the shampoos and conditioners. They made the colour of my hair fade and the water in the bath tub become greenish blue! 😦
We were totally surprised during the check-in. We didn’t know that we were entitled to a buffet breakfast, complimentary tea time and evening (free-flow) cocktail vouchers! 😉
The view of the Straits of Malacca – the tide was low and the beach was dryThe main entrance to the Avi Spa is the entrance in the middle while for tea time and cocktails, proceed to the left-side staircase and walk up. The view will blow your mind away.
In case you’re wondering, tea time starts from 3 – 4.30pm and the evening cocktails start at 6 – 7pm. Tea time is inclusive of coffee, tea and the sweet and savoury treats shown above. Psst, they’re free-flow!
If you can (and you must!), take your snacks and beverages outside and be amazed by how beautiful the tides of the Straits of Malacca looks!
The selections at the breakfast buffet were okay – with Asian and Western choices. At the Asian section, there were local dishes such as nasi lemak, chicken curry, mee goreng, noodles with soup, etc. At the Western corner, there were a variety of pastries, breads and cereals. There were also sausages, beef bacon, an egg station where you can personalize the type of eggs you want and also a selection of fruits and yogurt. Do try to personalize your own curry noodles! The curry soup was the bomb.
If you’re thinking what night activities there are, the pools are open and lit 24 hours so it’s great if you want to go for a quick dip after dinner. Besides that, you can also hop on over to The Verte, a contemporary Asian and Western fusion restaurant right next to the resort. There’s also a mini bar in the hotel itself and the drinks ranged from RM24 and above.
Overall, Avillion Port Dickson was great. I would definitely come back here again, even if it was a solo one-night trip, to just relax, unwind and not worry under the sun.
Sun kissed and happy,
